Salmon baked in maple syrup for a sweet and easy dinner.
Cooking with maple syrup is one of my favorite ingredients to cook with. My family makes maple syrup from scratch at our cottage so using it in my cooking adds a little bit of love to every bite.
I have made maple syrup salmon about a million times because it is seriously the easiest dinner to throw together EVER! This recipe has two ingredients, salmon and maple syrup. Could it get any easier? Just pour the maple syrup on the salmon and bake!
I usually pull a piece of salmon out of the freezer the night before, put it in a pan, pour the maple syrup on it, cover, and put in the refrigerator. Usually by the next day at dinner time the salmon is thawed and has absorbed the maple syrup flavor.
I have heard before that you are not supposed to marinate fish for more than a half of an hour so if you like to follow this rule of thumb then don’t do what I do and prepare the fish the night before. I have done it both ways and I think the fish tastes better when it sits longer but it is totally up to you.
- 1-2 pounds of salmon
- ½ cup maple syrup
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Line a 9x9 inch baking dish with aluminum foil. Place salmon in the pan and pour the maple syrup over the salmon.
- Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour based on how thick your piece of salmon is. Once the salmon is cooked through, remove from oven and serve immediately.
